ix35 starting problems
Hi, New to the forum. My 2014 ix35 is problematic to start. It is manual so I depress the clutch pedal and turn ignition then sometimes the engine doesn't turn over. Can try several times, sometimes with a few minutes in-between starts, before it will start. Batterry should be ok as just back from a long ju=ourney, but I will gat this chacked this morning.
Any help / advice welcome.

Last summer, while in a supermarket parking lot with ice cream in the trunk ...
I put the key in and turn it to start .. nothing.
This wasn't the first time. It had happened a couple of times before
But, it had always started after a few minutes of waiting
This time it just didn't want to start.
Opened the hood and checked the starter relays
There was some corrosion on one pin
Cleaned it up but still no joy
Interior lights would turn on and go out when the key was turned to start engine
(a symptom of high resistance when put under load)
By now, I am thinking of calling for a tow and eating the ice cream I just bought.
After twenty minutes there, tried it one more time and it started.
Got it home. Next day, I cleaned up all terminals. Battery terminals. Battery negative.
Grounding strap. Both for battery and engine.
Terminals on alternator and (2 on) starter.
I haven't had a problem starting the car since then.
My advice is to clean up any corrosion on terminals and grounding points
Then check battery with a DVOM or multi-meter
With the engine off, should be around 12.5 volts
With the engine on, should be around 14.5 volts
note: when doing anything with the electrical system, take off the battery to prevent shorting
But, if you have a radio that needs security code to work ... then be extra careful
Good luck

The starting issue with your 2014 Hyundai ix35 manual may be attributed to various factors. Start by inspecting the clutch switch, ensuring it engages properly when the pedal is depressed. A malfunctioning clutch switch can hinder the ignition process. Additionally, check the battery condition, spark plugs, and fuel delivery system. If the problem persists, a thorough diagnostic by a qualified mechanic is recommended. They can utilize specialized tools to assess the ignition system, identify potential issues, and provide a precise solution, whether it involves component replacement or further troubleshooting to resolve the intermittent starting problem.
