Take it to Autozone for a free scan and verify the ODBII port is working. Tell them the "Check Engine" light is on.

Could you be more specific? You didn't get a good answer because you didn't ask a clear question.

I connect the computer to the ob2 and it lights so their is power being generated. When you go to information on vehicle it is bland like it does not exist. It is like no information is being sent back.

So what do you mean by "computer"? Do you have a hand held scanner? Or a device to connect it to a PC. Why are you connecting it? Are you sure "information" doesn't mean information on a trouble code which is not present? Try giving us more information, we're not Kresslin the Magnificent here.

Like I said, you're leaving out too much information. For example, if I knew what year and model car you have, I could tell you if you have the "CAN" protocol for ODB II devices. If your scanner can't see "CAN" then it's useless for many years. Other years have ODB I standard, which is a different animal completely.

But since you are skimpy with the info, it's really hard to give you a good answer.
