For some reason when i turn the key i can feel the engine start but all it does is make a loud thunking noise rythmatically. Just yesterday i had trouble with the accelerator. but my grandpa said that it was probably the cadalitic converter.

 

The catalytic converter won't stop the car from starting.
Check your starter. And also your alternator.
