2001 hyundai accent GS Hatchback- slow acceleration
Hello,
I just bought a 2001 Hyundai Accent and i love the car and all but it has really slow acceleration. When you first start moving with the car it's extremely slow but once you get 35+mph than it starts behaving better
. I was just wondering if this is normal in the other hyundai's or if it is a problem. If it is a problem than what could it be?
Please ANY help is appreciated.
Thank you.

if its an auto they're agnozingly slow even when they're new...i won't drive the auto myself.
a general tuneup is always a good idea when maintenance history is unknown. here's where i'd start:
-engine coolant
-spark plugs (i recommend 0.035" for the 1.6L instead of the specified 0.045" for misfire issues)
-air filter. a clogged one won't hurt fuel economy, but it sure will slow you down!
-auto trans: fluid flush. be sure the right fluid is being used.
-manual trans: change the gear oil, hyundai spec is 75W-80 API GL-4 i believe. double check your owners manual. also note that no matter what you're told GL-5 is NOT compatible with GL-4! GL-5 can damage the transmission. also i recommend full synthetic for a tad more power
-always a good idea to inspect brakes as well.
this is not a list to 'get done for sure' but a list of things to inspect. if you're unsure how, post here or PM me and i'd be happy to help. if you're doing your own work here's a few other things worth doing, but not really worth paying someone for:
-PCV valve: check if its functional/clean
-Throttle body cleaning
-fuel filter
-injector cleaning - take them out and clean them properly.
-plug wires
-brake fluid and clutch fluid (if you have a manual, clutch also uses brake fluid)
