2009 Hyundai Accent needs new transmission?
Hey everyone,
My 2009 Hyundai Accent has developed an issue with the transmission that nobody can seem to accurately diagnose the problem.
Basically what is happening is we start the car up, shift it into drive and the car jumps forward, it feels like its jumping right into second gear. After shifting into drive when you try to take off the car stays in 2nd gear and holds it for an extended period of time (much longer then it should). When it's doing this, if we shut the car off and turn it back on it will come out of it, but sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries shutting it off.
My first thought was shift solenoid. I took it to a garage, they hooked up to their computers and they said the same thing. This is one of our company cars and I don't have the time to do it personally so I had the garage replace the solenoid, but the problem persisted. They now say they can't get their computer to talk to the cars ECM/PCM. Took the car to a dealership, dealership says the computer is bad and that the computer went bad because of shorted wiring inside the transmission. They say we need a new transmission and computer....$3600. I laughed and said "nah".
Wondering if anyone here has any input? The car has a 140k on it, but we do 40-50k a year and the car itself is in great condition.
