My last car was a Yaris -- its engine sounds totally different than Hyundai.. so this noise may be quite normal to this engine.. but I've had it ever since it left the dealer in March 2014. Hasn't gotten worse, but I can't think of a part that this noise may be coming from.. obviously in the engine compartment - water pump maybe? Should I be spending the time to take it back to the dealer?

the video starts out with the car in drive, not moving. we accelerate to about 15mph, stop, then accelerate again. i tried moving the microphone around a bit to try and pick up the noise .. metallic kinda grinding noise about every 0.9 seconds.

 

That doesn't sound normal. I have a 2014 Accent, mine has never made any sort of noise like that. I would take it to the dealer as soon as possible. I'm not sure what that noise could be, but I doubt water pump.

 

My 2013 5 door hatchback makes valve noise but it has done it since it got broke in. Not loud a'tall & not aggrivating but obviously valve noise. Take yours to the dealer get it on record you complained then later on if it has a problem they will verify your complaint is on record and you should get a free fix. Good luck.
