I have a 2000 accent that i shipped from Singapore, even though i live in the Caribbean.

Can anybody tell me if it's normal for ticking sounds to come from the front of the car when the engine is switched off?
Also i hear a loud sound not ticking though, more like a mini-explosion every minute at the back whenever i start or switch off the car.this second sound is not from the exhaust though.

thanx guys for your advice.
G.

From what i understand, the noises in the front when the engine is off, are caused by the metal and materials of the engine that are hot when you stop the car, and that are cooling.

The other noises i just dont know.

Hope i help

stay cool

The sound you are hearing from the rear of the vehicle is caused from one or two of both of thesethings. They are as follows:

1. Fuel tank pressure valve within fuel cap

2. Purge control solenoid from fuel tank to charcoal canister

The noise you hear is your fuel tank trying to concave because of the purge valve constantly purging the fuel tank, or the pressure valve in the fuel cap not allowing atmospheric pressure to enter the fuel tank.

No not a major problem, ho wvwer if you do not have the problem rectified then the vehicle will get to the point where it will begin to be sluggish and your tank will be permantly cresaed and may have detrimental issues later in life.

Virtually every car makes that ticking sound when you shut it off. Some do it more than others.
