'97 Accent - can't get aerial up!!!
Hi Guys,
Hope someone on here can help me out, I've just bought a 97 Accent, but it doesn't have an owner's manual and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the aerial to extend, as a result the radio reception is pretty poor. If anyone can point me in the right direction it will be greatly appeciated!
Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: '97 Accent - can't get aerial up!!!
i'm assuming you are talking about an automatically extending radio antenna. i've never heard it called an aerial before, i learned something new... anyway, it should extend as soon as the radio gets power to it, which means yours isbroke. if its one of the easy ones thats mounted in the trunk you should be able to replace it by yourself, go to the install shop in the back of best buy, they sell them there. i dont remember how much they are, but their not expensive. its reealy simple to put in, you will figure it out easiest by taking out the old one, and i think they come with instructions. good luck

Thanks Seiken, I was beginning to wonder if i was going mad not being able to locate the switch for it, the radio/cd player has been fitted by a previous owner so I guess they've missed a connection somewhere?

Are you sure there is an aerial there? I would be shocked ifa 97 Accent had a power antenna. My suspicion is that it had a fixed antenna which broke off. Just get a new one from a salvage yard.
