Default Accent Mods, can't leave anything alone

Well, I can't resist playing with any car I own. Even the one I bought to commute in. I just finished the install of a new Sony head unit, Cosmo Racing CAI, and gauges from GlowTech. I am going to try and post pictures of the CAI and gauge install. Only have daylight pictures of the gauges but will try and take more pix tonight. The gauges are 7-color choices and go dark with the ignition off. I used GlowTech's universal pillar pod; had to do a little trimming and forming with a heat gun but the results look pretty good to me. The gauges I installed are a 10,000 RPM tach, oil pressure, and voltmeter. If anyone wants particulars of the gauge hookups let me know.

I used the port for the oil pressure light switch. Unlike many other cars, the switch is not interfaced with the computer so I just left it unhooked. The only problem with the hookup is you have to extend the plumbing away from the engine in order for the gauge sensor to clear the clutch slave cylinder. I did this by using some adaptors; 1/8"BSP (or 1/8" ISO tapered pipe thread) to 1/8" female NPT, then a 1/8"NPT to 1/4" female NPT adaptor, then a 1/4"NPT to 1/8" NPT reducing coupling, and finally screwed the sensor into that. A 1/8"NPT nipple about 1.5 inches long would be a lot less work, but since I had the fittings I did it this way. I toyed with the idea of using a tee to reconnect the switch for the pressure light but decided against it since all this plumbing is quite heavy and I would rather not risk damaging the threads in the engine block.

The first picture is the default color, dark blue. The second is what I call "combat red", reminds me of those old submarine movies. The third is amber. Also available are white, aqua, green, and purple. There is also an annoying demo mode that switches from one color to the next. I would definitely NOT recommend driving a car with that distraction! The gauges appear to be of decent quality and the oil pressure gauge uses a VDO-type sender so it is easy to find if you have trouble with it.
