Default Brake sensor problem

It seems like my brake sensor has malfunctioned on my 03 Accent. It is like I have my foot on the brake all of the time. So the brake lights stay on all of the time. Even when the car is parked. This of course leads to a dead battery. I was able to find the fuse for the brake lights. So for now I have no brake lights at all but at least I don't have to deal with getting a jump every day.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I was hoping someone would know because I hardly have time to take it down to a dealership right now.

There's could be more than the switch at play here. May be a more simple fix. Pulling up on the pedal will not show for sure if its the switch, since a good switch still cannot make contact if the plastic stop is missing. I had the same problem and found that the plastic stop that is on the brake lever had deteroriated and was missing - found pieces in the carpet. It took less than a minute to replace and only cost $0.91.
The stop is about 1" diameter and 1/8" thick with a smaller diameter that pops into the hole on the brake pedal and makes contact with the switch.
