I broke a wheel stud while changing my front right tire. The patient: a 2016 accent.
What's my options? I looked at youtube, seems it's doable without removing the hub on older models, by bending the dust shield a little.
But I couldn't find info on a 2016.

Please help

There are tools to remove broken wheel studs.
If you decide to hammer it out, you might as well plan on removing the hub and replacing the bearings because banging on the hub like that can initiate the failure of the bearings.Be smart and do it right.

 

I was more curious on if there was enough space behind the hub to remove and install a new stud?

 

If you have enough room for the tool , hub removal should not be necessary, if not remove the hub , back up the flange and hammer out the broken stud,. replacing it is done with tightening the wheel nut until completely seated , before installing the wheel.

 

For anyone searching in the future:
I was able to cut a small portion of the dust shield, the allowed the studs to be removed.
I used a propane torch and a zip gun to remove the old studs.

To install the studs, I removed a small portion of the back of the stud so it can be inserted. If not it damages the threads a bit.
I used an old wheel nut and oversized nut (you could use washers too) to seat the studs.
I don't think the bearing got damaged.
