Default cylinder position

Trying to get the correct cylinder position numbers for my 95 Accent with the 12v 1.5 sohc.

The Chiltons manual shows as looking at th engine from the front of the car that it is 1-4 from right to left.
But all the other engines from that year are show ing that the #1 cylinder starts on the pulley side of the motor.
Having allot of trouble trying to get this car tuned and running right. think ive been shooting my self in the foot.

#1 always starts from the crank pulley back.
