Default Engine problem effecting transmission

I have a 2004 Accent. The check engine light is on, saying misfire in cylinder 4. I have changed the plugs, wires, and coil. My next guess is an exhaust valve. The light has been on for a while now.

The car rides a little rough, and sometimes the transmission hesitates. I had the tranny checked, and he said it's fine, and the problem is in the engine skip.

The problem was worse in the fall, but the car started running better in the cold weather, so I let it go. Now that it's getting warmer, the problem is coming back. Yesterday, the engine was whistling while idling. As I stepped on the gas, it went away. When I let off the gas, the whistle came back. When I got home I was going to check it out, but it was gone.

Any thoughts?

Yep, look for cracked intake manifold gasket at #4... a spritz of carb spray should do the trick..

Gasket is something like $6, add labor... not too hard to do, had 1 a couple week ago.
