26- is right on! if you drive local & short trips its right on! You have to go on the highway and cruise to see the mid 30's! I have a 2008 Accent with 29k miles and that is what they get--- if you had abigger car you would get way worse driving the local stuff... Enjoy the ride!!

 

So I just got a 2008 accent 2dr hatchback, it has 29,000 miles on it. I live in Florida and it is in the middle of the rainy crap season. I use the a/c constantly and often have it set to max a/c. I notice that I am getting about 220-230 for a full tank. I am concerned that there is an issue with the car. I hope that it is different when I take this road trip coming up. Is there anything I can do to improve the mileage, with the exception of turning of the A/C?

 

The 2008 Accent hatchback has a 11.9 gal tank. I'm assuming you aren't running the tank dry so I'm going to assume you use about 10 gallons and leave about 1.9 gal in the tank. So 230 miles on 10 gallons is 23 MPG. I don't think that's far off considering you are probably driving city miles and using the A/C a lot.
