headlights dim
First time poster here. Already learning a lot about my new Hyundai.
Been doing some searching and not finding anything on this myself. Similar situation.
This is what I found/did in my situation...
- 02 Accent. Just bought it for my kid.
- Passenger side was not working - brights worked.
- Replaced bulb as it was indeed bad.
- Had to use screwdriver to get connector off of bulb.
- Found out that the low beam connection has a current, even with lights off. How I find out? Used a screwdriver to get connection off and accidentally arched against body. (Yea, wont do that again.)
- Finally got bulb in, connected, and now have very dim light regardless if in low or high beam. (Drivers side is OK.)
- I do get current from positive side of headlight connector when testing against body ground, and the lights on.
- Get get nothing when testing from positive side of headlight connector when connected to negative side of connector, and the lights on.
I jumped the ground from the connector, to body ground, and lights turned on without car being on. So, I know the light itself works. (Thats also when I did some searching and learned a little more about how this light system works.)
So, I am assuming that it is a ground issue of sorts. However, having a hard time trying to trace things without a good wiring diagram, with possibly a color-code chart.
Any ideas where to start or where to point me for a good wiring diagram?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, I figured out the problem, and I feel silly right now...
When I checked all the fuses, I kinda thought there was only the one 30 amp fuse in the fuse center under the hood. Turns out there are two 10A fuses as well, one for each headlight.
I apparently blew the fuse when my screwdriver arched against the body.
Replaced fuse - all is good.
I guess, to my defense, the thing that threw me off was that the light was still on - just dim. You would think that if a fuse blew, you would get nothing.
Anyhow - thought I would share.
Take care.
