Default installed junkyard tranny 2003 accent wont move

I bought a junkyard trans with 30k miles on it for my 2003gate accent. We installed it everything bolted up got the torque converter seated then hooked up all controls. Put everything back together sat it down and nothing. No drive reverse low nothing. Motor runs fine, put it in gear let it sit for a few minutes trying to build up pressure still nothing. Anymore ideas??

did you make sure the converter was full of oil before you installed the trans?, usually hard to fill other wise.

I didn't put any in the torque converter this is the first trans I've put in. Is there a way to fix this problem without dropping the trans. I had a heck of a time getting it in right. Also I used foreign car trans fluid I picked up from autozone I have since read that u must use Hyundai sp3. Not sure if the stuff I used will work or not.

I'm no expert, just heard that from others that have done the same thing. I have called the local dealer and asked questions of the guys in the shop a few times, might try a search on line with the question, I ran into a site one time doing that and got great advice, it was something like ask the experts or such, sorry I did not save it, but should have with all the miles I put on mine.
