Default MAF Sensor & Resetting ECU

Hello everyone,

I've been thinking about cleaning my MAF sensor to see if I get better gas milage from my 2001 Accent and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the matter. I've read that the sensor is very delicate, and if damaged will cost $$$$$$ to replace. On that note I understand that using Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray to clean the sensor, and a soft paintbrush to remove and build up dirt my be sufficient to restore the sensor. Can anyone confirm this info?

After cleaning the MAF i'm told I have to reset the ECU, and to do this I have to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. Is this also correct or is there another way to do this (without taking it to the dealer or Autozone).

Thanks in advance for the help
