thanks for posting your blog here... i really find it interesting and informational, esp. when it comes to choosing the car. however, why choose the azera 2007 than the 2008? i heard that this year's model is much good than the previous year's model, well good luck in purchasing your ride!

I am also mostly happy with my '06 Azera , but I have a couple of bugs that bother me.
#1. As everybody has remarked, the car is quiet, but the suspension is really noisy, especially in the city which has lousy streets. On the highway it is wonderfully quiet.
#2. There is no door lock on the right passenger side. Unless you have your remote, you can't open the door from that side without going around to the driver's side.
#3. The trunk lock is located in a really stupid position under the lid, so that you have to do the touchy-feelly thing to find the key hole each time.
#4. The auto-headlight-on is not sensitive enough. I mostly turn the headlights on manually because it gets too dark before the lights kick on automatically. (And no, I do not want to leave them on all the time.)
#5. Not enough leg room for driver. I am 6'2" and my right knee is pretty well solid up against the dash, even with the pedals extended all the way down.

I bought my new '06 in '07 because it had the combined CD and tape decks, which I could not find on the newer ones.
However I got a fantastic deal. The dealer dropped the price $6000 right off the bat and gave me full retail price for my trade-in, not wholesale like they usually do.

BTW, my wife loves the car, loves, the comfortable interior and loves the exterior lines. SO THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME.

If you have keyless entry, why would you want to open the doors and trunk with the key? Always use the remote because the remote arms and disarms the alarm system. Opening the doors with the key when the alarm is armed will set off the alarm.

What I've seen done is to cover the light sensor on the top of the dash with some window tinting film. Just pry it up, wrap the film over the sensor and then push the sensor back in the dash. That will fool the sensor into thinking it's darker than it really is and turn the lights on sooner.

Is the driver seat all the way back?

My reply to Nova Resource above:

1. Why would I not want to use the remote ? It is so darn heavy, I mostly don't carriy it with me unless I know I will be having someone in the right seat such as my wife. BTW, the alarm does not go off if I use the key only.

2. The window tint for the auto light sensor is a good idea. I will follow up on that.

3. In regard to the seat, yes it is all the way back and the seat back is also tilted somewhat. Just long legs I guess.

BTW, Mu last car was a Chrysler and it had tremendous room in the back seat. The reason was that the front seat would not go back very far. Anothr car that was tight for me in the front. Tricky engineering for the marketing people.

Heavy? The remote is heavy? What's it weigh, 3 ounces?

I didn't say the key would turn the alarm off. What I said is if you unlock the car with the key when the alarm is set, the alarm will go of. As in, it will set the alarm off.

That was my point about using the remote. Locking the car with the remote turns the alarm on. Using the remote unlock the cars turns the alarm off. Locking the car with the key (or the buttons on the door) does not turn the alarm on. This is why you should always use your remote. If you don't use the remote you aren't using the factory alarm.
