Angry Timing Chain Tensioner Problem

I have a 2007 Azera. The chain sings on cold start up.The noise is a sound that is obviously the chain being loose on cold start.Hyundai should have recalled this engine do to wear and tear on chain. But NO-They blow it off and leave it up to are own decision to take it in and tear apart the engine to fix the tensioners.Plus the high R.P.M at cold start up is just bad.My question is-what it the deadline on getting this BIG TIME PROBLEM FIXED?Plus-Like I really have time to go through all this crap!

You will have until the end of your powertrain warranty. Once that is done you are on your own.

sounds like the tensioner is bleeding down, how many miles on this vehicle?? if you are hearing this noise consistently, and it is within the mfr warranty, it should be replaced. if you are having difficulty, then get your facts together in writing (if in fact the dealer is 'blowing you off'), and go see another dealer. if there is not one close by, then you may just have to make some phone calls first to the nearest dealership and explain your situation with them and set an appointment that will work for both of you.

if, however, you are over the warranty, and hope the 100k will cover it, i doubt it. it is one of those things that could go either way depending on the service department and how the write the repair orders up. (i've done that, too...)

regardless, being nice and level headed and sticking to the facts will get you a lot farther than trying to make general claims stick to you argument.

i wish you the best with this matter.

btw: the tensioners on *any* chain motor will make a racket that could wake the dead. it's not like it will bow up right now, but it is something that should be looked into. a recall, however, is not likely. this sort of thing can be due to lack of maintenace, improper oil useage, low oil level (by the way, did you check that yet??? because that *WILL* void any warranty if you run a crankcase low on oil), and temperature, as well as abuse (like high revving a cold engine...) not trying to make any accusations, just stating facts that could be possible causes for the concern that you are claiming so that you can get a better idea of the whole scope of possibilities as opposed to putting the whole thing in hyundais lap.

Default Jeez, 10yr/100.000 to original owner

Original owner gets 10yr/100,000 powertrain, 2nd owner and beyond gets the 5yr/60,000 warranty.

Are you with the mileage guidlines for you applicable ownership ?

Get the updated tensioners.. whats the deal ?

We were doing them all the time up till about a yr or so ago, they seemed to be taken care of (06 & 07 Lambda engines), hashing sound on cold start for 3-5 seconds... not a NHTSA safety concern, hence no recall...
