2008 Elantra headlamp funny business
Hi. I noticed my lowbeam headlamp on drivers side was out, so I went to remove the old one to see which one I needed to get. After I removed the the circular access door I noticed the lamp had turned itself on (I had the car running with the lights on) so I figured that took care of that. Later when I started the car the lamp was off again, so I proceeded to remove the access door and again it turned on. Today of course, it was out again, so I took the door off and felt around to see if there was any thing loose (there wasn't) and when I put the access door back on, the light came on. This is really baffling. Has anyone encountered anything like this? Just in case I ordered a new headlamp (H11b).

Sometimes the filament in the bulb will break but still be in contact. The jostling around can cause the filament to touch (and work) and then disconnect (and go out). Just replace the bulb and you should be fine. Also, be sure not to touch glass on the new bulb with your fingers.

Watch out with that lamp housing.. I had 1 I replaced bulb in, and it still acted goofy.. ended up replacing the lamp assembly due to poor socket fitting to bulb' lugs..
Covered part for 5/60 I beleive... see you dealer.
