Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 2014 Elantra GT Issue

Frustrating experience. 2014 Elantra GT with 93k miles. Passed the warranty but still have the 150k power train warranty. Oil consumption is a known problem these cars, but only one year got the recall. Everyone else is left in the dust.

I had to replace my catalytic converter at 77k miles and this was at end of 2023. Last month, turns out I had to replace the cat converter again - this is 1,5 years later. So, I decide I want to start the oil consumption test and go through the pipeline. That's where the dealership, knowing my intentions, stopped me at claiming I needed to reseal the timing and oil pan and claiming $3800 before they could even start the oil consumption test.

I know there is no external oil leak. There would be oil on my driveway. I took it to a 3rd party mechanic and he confirmed the stuff they listed to "fix" like resealing the timing was absolutely a lie to motivate me away from the pipeline of the oil consumption test. He showed me that you would see oil around the engine and certainly underneath my parking spot but there was none of that sort - there is no leak.

Halfway considering writing to corporate but honestly, I'm just not sure it would even be worth the hassle even if they magically greenlit doing the oil consumption test (1 quart every 600-700 miles currently).
