clunk while steering

clunk while steering
i have a 2000 elantra which just had its transmission replaced (well, rebuilt) and along with that i had the cv joints replaced and the front tires and brakes. while turning right it makes a loud whining noise (especially if it's a sharp right turn) and then when straightening the steering wheel there's a clunking noise.
does anyone know why? or can point me in the right direction?
also, the backlight to my radio all of the sudden went out - it's lcd, so i'm assuming the bulb or something would be replaced or maybe the whole thing? does anyone know approx. how much it would cost? thanks!

RE: clunk while steering
[align=left]Did you have CV joints replaced? Or did they replace the entire drive axle? Anyway, sounds like something is not right and you need to return to the mechanic in question. I have no idea about your radio, but I assume there must be some way to replace the light bulb in the radio. I would try to use the online manuals at hmaservice.com to locate radio information.

RE: clunk while steering
Loud whining noise around turns is usually coming from the CV joint. The clunk sounds bad, like something didn't get tighted properly. I wouldn't drive it until I found out what's wrong.
