How do I get a CEL to go off due to a code P1502 on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra with 200k miles on it? How do I fix the issue?

I have a 2001 Elantra with AT and 200k miles, I am the second owner and some how the green wire running to the absent/taken out speed sensor was cut and tucked under the passenger front wheel skirt-I now have a CEL on and the scanned code comes back as P1502 "Wheel speed sensor open circiut"- My question is by replacing the wheel speed sensor and checking the cut wire for continuity-will this take care of the problem with the CEL-also is there any damage I can do to the car by not fixing it for 1-2 months due to low funds?-and just having the CEL on(it is annoying).
