Dropping and Changing tranmission on 01
My transmission crapped out on me on my 01 automatic elantra. how hard is it to drop and swap these. I have done it a couple times before but never on a front wheel drive car.is there anything the average garage wrench turner needs to look out for, thanks

I suggest you review this thread by another forum member that just did a good job of documenting a clutch replace on an Elantra:

The basic process is the same regardless of whether it is an automatic or manual transmission. One of the first steps that is different will be to remove the bottom bell housing cover and unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate on the back of the engine, and you will have cooler lines to disconnect that the manual does not have. After that, the process will be pretty much the same. You should also establish a user account on the Hyundai service site (http://www.hmaservice.com/) and read up on the "Shop" documentation regarding this repair.
