Does anyone know why the engine light stays on after codes deleted. 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT Online had a 02 and 03 misfire. Now runs fine. Need to get the light to extinguish. Thanks

 

Newer vehicles cannot have the C/E light extinguished by a scan tool anymore. After the repair is completed, the vehicle must be driven thru a few cycles where there is no longer any problem and the vehicle computer will turn the light off.

 

It can if you have a expensive one.. This is absolutely true.

 

I am not sure of exactly what year they initiated this, but it was to prevent any temporary "repairs" just to obtain an inspection sticker.

You might verify this with a dealership in your area.
