Hi everyone,

So my Hyundai Lantra (Elantra is called Lantra in Spain apparently) broke down. Everything is fine except for the automatic gearbox, which my mechanic says needs to be replaced.

I've been looking for places online to buy the gearbox but I am not sure which ones will be suitable.

My Hyundai Elantra is a 1996 model (1.6 GLS A, G 4GR Motor), but wherever I look, I cannot find any breakers or car dealers that sell anything for the 1996 models. They only go back as far as 2001.

Would the 2001 gearbox be compatible with my 1996? Any ideas where I can get a gearbox for my car?

I see the Elantra 1996 GlS have a 1.8 liter 16V gas engine
So I don't know about your 1.6GLS??
Anyway, 96, 97 and 98 have compatible trannys
You can Search Ebay for your tranny??
