Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default how hard is it? replace front brakes on 2005 elantra

hey there!

my mother owns a 2005 elantra, and she needs a brake job soon. I told her if she would come up and see my 2 gigs I have this weekend, I would do her brakes for her.

So, how hard is it?

I've replaced the brakes on a dodge aries, a Plymouth caravan, and a Chrysler New Yorker. how hard is it on an elantra?

I am no expert by any means, just looking to save some money.

If you've done them on other cars before you should have no problem. There's nothing different about Hyundai brakes.

they are not self adjusting...there is a turn wheel with a metal adjuster...i always used my pocket screw driver and turn them with it....

when doing the rears you should have screwed the two piece bar (best way to describe it all the way down....then spun it till they made contact....put the hat on if it loose keep adjusting till you have to really give it some oomf to put it back on.

btw a 3lb hammer will do a better job then a rubber mallet.
