iPod usb cable connection
I successfully used a regular usb cable to control the iPod from the radio on my 2013 Elantra. However, after I did that I read that you are supposed to use the special Hyundai cable. Anyone know if I am in danger of damaging my iPod, or if they're just trying to sell you something you don't really need.

I use an iphone 5 as my ipod and in my 2012 Elantra sedan, I had to use the Hyundai adapter with the Apple adapter. I just got a 2013 GT and I tried to use the same connection setup and it did not work. I had to use just the apple cable. In the manual for my car it says if you have the navigation model, you need the Hyundai adapter but for the non-navigation it says to use Apple's cable. I don't see why it would damage it but you might not get all the features. I wanted the steering wheel audio controls and they don't work with the adapter in my new car, just when using the Apple cable by itself.

I bought the Hyundai ipod cable. it works great except it says I only have 100 songs and it only seems to play those 100 songs. I've tried random but still the same songs. I like Bonnie Tyler but getting sick of only hearing her and Bob Dylan. There are thousands of songs on my ipod. Does anyone know how I make the radio see the entire songlist on my ipod. My 2018 Tacoma sees all of the songs.
I have the 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with the Nav radio/touchscreen.
