Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default Not Running After Starter

Hi All,

I have a 2002 Elantra that my kid drives. It has been pretty reliable for the most part. Just the other day however I had to replace the starter. Kind of a pain job but I did it with after market part and started it many many times. One thing I should have done but did not was drive it.

My daughter called me now to say it will in fact start most of the time but it has never moved because applying just about any throttle at all kills the engine. I really do not get it and I looked at everything I had worked around etc.

There has always been some sketchiness to the sensor cables that go into the passenger side of the motor near the air cleaner box. Some of the plastic is shot and oil etc but I feel there is still decent continuity in the connections. AT any rate I am hopeful someone will have any and all ideas to check so that I can get this thing out of my driveway. Something specific is the question about the sensor cabling harness. Is it a single part for the 3-4 wires that connect to those sensors?

Thanks.

Sometimes,,,,,,,,,,,,when there is insufficient electrical power available to the electronics of the vehicle, things just will not work.

I would suspect either you left off a wire someplace , blew a fuse that you were not aware of , or a ground wire is not connected.
