Hi forum,

I am new to owning a Hyundai car. I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited with about 66700 miles on it. A week ago I had the engine oil and oil filter changed. I immediately started noticing a noise when I start the engine in the morning when the motor is cold. This only happens when the engine is cold. I am not sure what to make of this - if I am damaging my engine ! I took the car back to the mechanic and he looked at the oil level, which he said was okay and there are no oil leaks.
Oil: 4.2 Q of synthetic 5W-20.

It sounds like the starter lever is not pulling back fast enough.
Do you have any oil leaks in the area of the starter?

 

Thanks ! I will have it checked. But this only happens on a cold start and never again during the day when the motor is warmer.
