Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default What kind of oil in 2002?

I just purchased this car used. I want to be sure I put the best oil in for the car as it has over 110,000 miles on it.

I see that the book suggests using SG or SH oil. But I see they don't really make SG or SH oil.

Someone suggested I use synthetic oil as it is better for the car. Would that work?

Any quality, name brand oild will be fine. I personally like synthetic because I can extend the oil change intervals but you might not want to spend teh added cost on an older vehicle. There are some good oils designed for older/migher-mileage cars. that are good too.

I actually did it myself today for the first time. I don't mind paying more if it means less oil changes.

I went with a Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil on the strong recommendations from the guy from the store. Also went with a mobil filter.

Actually, you should only use Hyundai filters. Some aftermarket filters are more restrictive and can cause a tapping noise in the engine. Read more:
