There is no fix to axle length other then shortening one of them. This is not feasable because you would need to design, test and build an intermediary drive shaft and all that goes with that. Wait till the next version. I am not a big fan of disparate tire pressures, but it is the low tech solution.

As to the steering, I am in the minority on this, I like it. I didn't but I do now. If feels like a quick rack.

Default Pulling right

Bernie, great discussion. One question. I had a slight right hand pull that was completely fixed by the dealer just rotating the two front tires. The car now tracks perfectly straight whether under acceleration or just coasting along. If the problem is due to a mechanical design, would not the drift be there on all vehicles, and all the time? Thanks in advance for the reply.

I have the 2010 15" Touring and it drives so-so (alignment mostly). My friend have the 2009 Touring with 17" wheels and it drives much better. A firmer direction, no pulls to the right or left.

But considering the cost of upgrading, I'm not sure I want to take this path.

Goes back to the question of was it a drift, a pull or tourque steer. Low (really uneven) air pressure could have caused a drift condition that is cured with a check of the tires and a rotation. There are other reasons I am sure.

On the observations about tires, what tire size you have will make a difference. The 17's are going to be more neutral as there is more contact with the road. A taller skinnier tire like the 15's will react more.

Bernie, thanks for the reply.

My car doesnt quite fit what youve described. I canbe traveling 35-40 mph and if Im on the pedal or not, it will pull to the right. I CANT make the car track straight by simply offsetting the steering wheel. Furthermore, I drove another car-a GLS with steel wheels, and its manners were much improved. On my car it borders on dangerous if ones hands slip off the wheel. Considering there tons of vehicles that drive straight, its absolutely absurd they would design something like this. JMO

Took my car into Goodyear.. Guy I have been going to for 13 years.. He showed me how wrong the alignment was. You could see the right wheel pointing to the curb. He brought it back to spec. Now it still pulls to the right it no longer hurts my wrist to keep correcting it. He also said both front wheels are towed in at the top ( think knock kneed). But there is no adjustment for that.. If I want further fixed he can get me a part to install that will allow that adjustment. But for some reason Hyundai didn't put on this car. I think I can live with this at least it isn't painfull to drive anymore

Well here's a good one...

Took my car in for it's regular service on the weekend, and had them check out that slight drift to the right again. The mechanic took it for a REALLY short drive, and (obviously) didn't find anything wrong. And then the Service Manager actually tried to tell me, that the car's tendency to drift to the right is really a safety feature..... Aparently if you fall asleep at the wheel, the car is supposed to veer off into the ditch as opposed to oncoming traffic. Riiight....... No, I didn't buy that one either. Nevermind that she just admitted that it IS actually an issue, I think it's just their way of saying, they cannot and/or don't want to fix the problem ..... get used to it and go away.

Suffice to say, I will be looking for another dealership for my servicing from now on.

We should write complaint to Hyundai. Maybe if we are enough there will be a recall (?).

I'll add another customer who had his car pulling to the right.

Took my car in today and had the alignment checked. Was told the service (along with oil change and a look at the handle on the hatch) would take 2 hours. 4 hours later service was done, and the service adviser told me that the mechanic had trouble getting the alignment fixed. I never got any more details other than that.

Car does not pull nearly as much, and I can barely notice it at all (still trying to determine if its the road or the car). Took a drive on the highway and never noticed it a bit. The steering really feels different for sure.

I was told that if in the next month it is happening, to bring it back in at no charge (as I paid for an alignment...had the car since October).

Hoping that there is not a serious issue with it, as this thread indicates is possible.

Don't see too much of this on the http://www.hmaservice.com/ site...is this site any good?

Chris,

You mentioned paying for an alignment. Did you take it to the dealer? My dealer cant resolve my 09's pull to the right and was contemplating just paying the 50 bucks or whatever to see if I get a different result.
