Default Radio gives a loud "Pop" sound like short circuit and then resets itself

Friend of mine has the radio acting up really weirdly since a few weeks and to me it seems like a lose wire or something as even when not driving this issue happens that the radio suddenly switches off to the main screen and then you have to manually start the radio again by pressing the volume button and sometimes it doesn't even work. You keep pressing and the HUD doesn't change. Very weird issue and it's the same with an AUX cable connected. Friend also told me that the radio sometimes doesn't work at all if there is no USB in the radio itself. You can see the USB light bleep a few times when the popping sound is heard.

Does anyone have a clue about this error?

It's a 2010 model we're talking about.

You are pretty much on target when you suspect a connection problem. The real problem is to find it.
