Hello all, just joined you lovely lot hoping someone has experienced & found what the actual cause is:

2003 1.6 Getz Sport, 85,000 miles. External gear selection mechanism is all intact, both selection cables look intact through to entry into gearbox. Symtoms are that the gearbox is stuck in what seems to be third maybe fourth gear. Forward & back gearstick action shows no gearchange response. when attempts are made to shift to first & second gear, fifth or reverse, cable linkage seems rigid. That is the left hand cable when looking down at the gearstick. Seems like this could be expensive.
Anyone had this experience themselves ? Grateful for any thoughts !

 

Was actually cable failure at gearbox end. New cable fitted, up & away again.
