My 2007 Getz displays a different gear on the screen from the gear selected with the lever.

For example, when I put it in D, N, or R, the screen display reads 2. When I put it in P, the screen display is blank.

Therefore, I cannot start my car, because the electronics never thinks the car is in Neutral or Park.

The physical transmission appears to be working normally - the problem appears to be with the digital display not showing the correct gear that has been selected.

Does anyone know how to get the screen display back in sync with the physical gear lever? Thanks.

 

The shift lever indexes with a sensor that if out of adjustment or defective, will not provide accurate info to the vehicle control system.
