Since 2011, I have a hyundai satellite H1 manufactured in 2005. Around 200 000km. It works well but I have a problem with the first gear from time to time. sometimes I can't activate the first gear. When I had this car years ago, it was impossible to activate the first gear if my speed was to high and I guess it was a protection. But now sometimes I can't activate the first gear even when the car is stopped.

either I can force (and I don't like it...) or I can stop the car, engage the first gear and start again the car. I have also the feeling that engaging the second gear and then the fist gear could help.

My mechanic told me it was because the cable of the gear lever are to damaged (rubber part) and there is nothing to do because the spare part are no more sold by hyundai. But I wonder if it is not something else because when the car is off then I can engage the firs gear without any problem.
