There is a TSB titled "01-40-007 2001 Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe and XG300 Automatic Transaxle External Oil Filter Deleted " that states:

Hyundai has deleted the external oil filter (P/N 46322-39000) on all Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe and XG300 transaxles effective with the production dates listed below. These transaxles are equipped with an internal oil filter that needs to be changed only during transaxle overhaul.
The dates begin in 2001. The TSB was last modified in 2007, so it covers the model year of your Santa Fe. If you really want to find it, I suspect it is mounted on the bottom of the tranny just inside the oil pan like most other automatics with internal filters.
