2.2 CRDI 2007 automatic stalling
Hello all,
I have a strange issue and I wonder if anyone got that. My car turns on fine, but after a few minutes running, the AC will stop blowing cold and the car will stall whenever I stop it.
There are no warning lights, no OBD codes. The pattern seems to be that the AC will stop blowing cold, then I know next time I stop the car at a sign it will stall.
Somtimes I turn the ignition on, but if I put in D or R the car will stall again, as there seems to have no power if I step the gas pedal.
Then it may come back to regular function. I read in another forum that this could be related to the crankshaft sensor, however I noticed that I was low on coolant liquid, then I filled the reservioir and algo poured directly to the radiator. Oddly in the last 3 days I havent got the problem again. Then I´m wonderig if that could be the problem, and if so, what is the relation between low coolant and car stalling??

Welcome to the club. That is one of the reasons some problems can be pretty difficult to solve or provide a sensible answer.
I was curious as to the functioning of the A/C system, since if I understand your description correctly, it only took place when the A/C was selected
If the problem reappears and the coolant level is correct, let us know.

Did you find any further issues? My wife's santa fe is doing this exact same thing now
then I took the car to a garage and they have detected the gasket that was leaking. I sold the car a few days lates so I don’t know if they were right, but after this I had no problems whatsoever. The car was really great.
once I realized that the car was loosing coolant, I started to fill the deposit every now and then and the car did not stall again. I guess that probably there is a sensor that detects the coolant level is dangerously low and turn the car off. But that’s just a guessing. I traveled over 2000km only adding coolant and had no problem.

Craziness. I topped up the radiator as the level in the resevoir seemed fine. Sure enough it was stall free for 4 weeks. It stalled again 2 days ago and again. The radiator level was low so i topped it up n running perfect again. Must be a minor leak somewhere. Your a life saver wifes 7 montys pregnant amd we were running low on options. Curious as to why this happens but it actually saved me spending thousands on every other thing I'd suspect before this actually being the issue
From the info posted so far,
There appear to be 2 problems.
The first is the coolant leak and the second could be a malfunctioning radiator cap.
The leak causes the level in the radiator to go down, but when the engine cools down, and the coolant contracts it creates a vacuum the cooling system which normally pulls coolant from the recovery bottle back into the cooling system, which does not seem to be happening. The coolant leak might be allowing it to pull in air instead of coolant. This needs to be verified and might disappear when the leak is repaired. Just something to keep in mind.
