Default 2002 santa fe speedometer stopped working.

My 2002 Santa Fe stopped working. I have a couple of questions first does the Santa Fe have a speed sensor or cable? Second when I searched the forum some were told to check the fuse if so which fuse? Third where is the speedometer sensor (if it has one) located? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Does your SF have ABS or TCS? Cars without have the sensor in the top of the trans:

Car with ABS/TCS use the sensor at the right front wheel:

Thank you for your fast response. My SF does not have abs/tcs so the top picture would apply. Do you think the sensor is the source of my problem?

Default Speedo Inop

Hi, my speedometer stopped working too (along with my cruise control and odometer). It was working intermittently and then it just stopped altogether. I have the V-6 AWD. Mine has a sensor (no cable). The sensor it’s self was fine but there is a green gear (with a metal shaft) that goes into it and it was stripped. I got a new gear from the dealer (they had it in stock), it listed for $9.65 and the part number is 46512-39700. It was easy to change but a PITB to get to. I did it from the top; there is connector and one bolt (10mm socket) to remove to remove the sensor. I twisted and pulled up on it with a long pair of pliers and it came out with a little patience. There was a little metal spring clip that holds in the gear. I swapped it out and put it back together and it works perfect now.

crwfrd1951 did you read my post, perhaps you have the same issue (the bad gear)?

Hello carmhold@verizon.net,

I had a 2002 also, did you read my post (#4), perhaps you have the same issue? To answer your questions 1) it has a sensor, 2) I do not know what fuse it would be, and 3) I did mine a long time ago but I when I wrote the posting I said that I got it from the top. I don't recall what side it was on. If you want I can check when I get home tonight and take a picture of it. I still have the Sante Fe but it is in storage right now.

In post number two you said there are pictures posted? I think it was to but anyway. I have a 2002 SF V6 AWD and the tachometer just stopped working. I was hoping that maybe you could send me those pictures. I realize that your post was from a few years ago. I'm just hoping that maybe you still have them. Or link that shows what you where talking about.
