2006 Santa Fe dash gages don’t want to work
I have a 2006 Santa Fe. We have had no major issues with it until we moved to Alabama. Last “winter” when it was cold in the morning the gages in the dash would not work until the car warmed up, no issues with any lights, issue stopped when the weather warmed. Starting in November the issue started again. This time around the lights on the dash work but nothing else works, odometer will eventually flash and come back on. The gages do not want to work no matter how warm it is. They may take 5 minutes then start working they may not work at all. Has anyone else had this issue or know what I may have to do to fix it. My SF has been very dependable and I would hate to get rid of her because of this issue. The car only has 125,000 miles on it and maintenance is done regularly.
I suspect since it is temperature related , there may be a bad solder joint in the dash printed circuit board.
When things get warm ,they expand and the connection is made. On the other hand when things get cooled down they contract and the circuit now is partially open or completely open.
Once we verify this there are 2 options.
1 replace the printed circuit board
2. with some good tools and training that poor connection may be found and resoldered and repaired.
Sometimes the board has to be sent out to a place that repairs them.
You are doing the right thing by asking. There is no harm in getting second and third opinions.
