Default 2007 santa fe..does it have oil pan gasket or not??

Hi everyone how are you? was at the dealer for the first time today..we bought a 2007 santa fe 3.3L used not too long ago( still under warranty) ..has about 50 000km on the clock...had it in for an oil change, so when it was ready the guy at the desk said i need another apt. cause there is a bit of oil weeping from around the oil pan...i was quite shocked! he said they have to remove the pan, dry it off, and apply some sort of liquid sealant, let it dry a bit and put it back on. i was floored...i know that on almost all cars there is a gasket and that you can apply a sealer for extra protection,,,but to have just a sealer sounds nuts to me....is this true? is there just a sealer and no gasket? is this guy pulling my chain? let me know.thanks

On my 2005 there is no gasket, just sealant. I had the same problem a couple of years ago and dropped the pan and applied the sealant. No problems since.

Not directly related but rear-ends in trucks are usually sealed with sealant, no gaskets; I've yet to hear this about an oil pan but it wouldn't bother me too much if so.

RTV.. quite common for oil pans.

Clean the surfaces, apply bead of GOO, assemble, and best to leave it sit couple hr to get good cure started before refill with oil and application of crankcase pressure.
