2008 V6 AWD getting 11MPG?!
I found a 2008 Santa Fe V6 AWD for my dad in awesome shape. The problem is that we found out later that this small SUV gets 11MPG at best in the city. I'm not sure what could cause such a drastically low fuel efficiency. I know its a pretty big engine and AWD but jeesh that's much worse than his old 2001 V8 Dakota. The brakes are not dragging, air filter is fine, tires are good. I haven't checked spark plugs yet.. I just read that the fuel gauges often go bad on these models, maybe that's it? i think when he tested it he just filled the tank and watched the odometer then filled up again to calculate. thanks for any tips. im a pretty capable parts changer but not great at troubleshooting. maybe its an 02 sensor? there are no dummy lights.
