ABS & TCS Light on at same time

ABS & TCS Light on at same time
My wife told me that the ABS & TCS lights have come on together
several times in the last couple of weeks while she's driving
normally. Then they just go off. I've checked the brake fluid, fuses,
connectors under the hood etc and can't find anything wrong. Anyone
know what it could be? I'm assuming it's a sensor and haven't had
time to get under the car to check out the wiring harnesses yet. I
thought I remember reading somewhere that it could be the wheel speed
sensor. I also checked and didn't get any trouble codes. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks.

What year ?
The first generation (2001-2006) like to crack the tone rings on the front axles, as rust grows on the outside of CV joint, it puts pressure on the ring and eventually it will crack, creating a slight wider space and the weird waveform will make the ABS/ESC module go nuts because the waveform is not uniform...
Scan of module should lead you in right direction if code set for particular circuit of concern
2007 to present models, an engine code will shut down CAN Comm with various modules, lots of throttle related codes with the '07 to present will cut the ESC off, had any issue with driveability ? ECM upgrade released recently to cover a host of parameters..
Brake light switch recall, will cause an ESC code/light if acting up.

Thanks sbr711, you were correct. I originally checked the condition of
all the sensors and they were okay. Then I took the tires off again
and checked closer and found that the right front tone ring was cracked.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to replace it. The ring is obviously
pretty simple, it's just what do I have to take apart to get to it. Any
advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have not replace a ring yet... the ring is available as a service part.
Fella across shop has done a couple, but I have not seen what it takes to install..
Likely you will need to buff the crud off the joint OD, but not so much as to reduce the diameter that new ring wont grip.
Hopefully somebody that has done it will chime in.
To get the axle out, remove the bolt through the lower ball joint, seperate joint from knucle, be sure to remove the axle nut first. Swing/pull out on knuckle and push in on axle stub to seperate stub from hub. Take pry bar and pop the inner joint from the shaft/bracket there by alternator.
When you go to re-install inner joint to the axle stub, make very sure you align the splines and joint straight, and use the half shaft axle similar to a slap hammer and rap the inner joint home.. if it is aligned proper and straight, it will pop riight in right now.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I've looked everywhere online and
in my Hayne's manual and can't find a thing about it. I've used the
term tone ring and toothed sensor ring to no avail. Thanks again.

I have a similar problem that developed after changing the right rear wheel bearing on my '07 Limited. The difference is that in my case, the ESC and ABS lights stay on, while the powertrain light flashes. The scanner showed this as "right rear speed sensor". Has anyone else experienced this?? The car drives fine, and I haven't noticed any difference (other than the night/day difference after getting the wheel bearing replaced!).
It's going back to the shop tomorrow to get the sensor replaced.
