Brake light n batt light flashed now won't start?

Default Brake light n batt light flashed now won't start?

2003 2.7
Sisternlaw driving to work after 20 minutes drive pulled into school lot and saw batt light and brake light flashed on dash than it died. Now had power to interior lights and keys chime when in ignition bit does nothing when you turn key.?

Checked all fuses and am at a loss. Ideas?

Have you tried to jump it? Sometimes there is enough power to work the interior lights but not enough to turn the engine over.

New battery installed and get key does nothing except turn on chime. Position of key in irellevent to car. Things that don't need a key still work, horn, hazards, brake light.

If it was and old ford I'd change he the solenoid, but I don't think this has one.

Are you sure the car in in park? Try pushing the shifter forward and/or putting the car in neutral. Maybe the sensor in the shifter is off and the computer thinks the car is in gear.

Short in wire from fuse box to alternator.
