Dead battery security alarm headache
Dead battery on a Santa Fe (2011)
jumper try.. blaring horn and no start.
try again (x5). No start, alarm blaring. Worse yet, can’t get car into neutral to move.
Have 2 factory fobs, neither do a thing.
sulk and curse Hyundai
Go on the web, 5 recommendations involving keys, battery disconnects, fobs and voodoo curses.. nothing.
call Hyundai roadside... have it towed to a dealer.
drink a beer.
visit other sites w recommendations w weird waiting periods...
Heres what worked. If you don’t have a fob, good luck. If your battery is seriously dead, replace. Keep the cables attached the whole time.
With cables attached, turn the key to starter position.. same alarm response.
Take key out of ignition, exit the vehicle and close the door.
insert key into lock, cycle between lock and unlocked 2times.
walk away at least 10 feet from the vehicle w the key and fob. Wait 30s.
unlock the door, enter the car.
turn the key. With any luck, the alarm system will be de-activated.
when you now turn the key to start, engine will make a clicking sound (solenoid) but won’t start. Leave the key in the Start position for 5 minutes.
Turn the key off.
wait 10 seconds.
Start the car.
voila!
