Default fuel gauge problems

I have an 09 santa fe and when I fuel up then turn the engine back on, the gauge goes to E and the light comes on and takes about 80 to 90 miles to return to where it should be. Anyone else have this happen and what needs done?????

Cowboy,
First thought is a faulty fuel level sensor in the tank. Have you checked to see
if any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC'S) are set? I would expect that one of four
codes P0461 - P0464 will be set. You can get a free scan at a local auto parts
store. Eventually, the level sensor will fail and the dash indicator will stick on empty.
Most likely need to remove the pump and sensor assembly from the tank and check
it out. Good luck.

Paul
