Default No speed/acceleration

My 2004 Santa Fe will accelerate up to about 40mph. When you hit press down on the gas petal it revs up but doesn't accelerate, will even downshift but no acceleration.

A friend thought it was the fuel pump and changed it out...ouch. but dealer didn't have the fuel filter.

Any suggestions to this problem?

I had the same problem with my wife's 2005. Turned out to be that
squirrels had decided to move into the engine compartment and ate
the wires. Start by taking the plastic engine cover off. You may
find parts of a nest. Also look inside the air filter compartment. I
found about 20 acorns in there as well as other materials. Good luck.

Is the check engine light on by any chance?

Yes it is. I'd appreciate any help / suggestions...

Friend at garage thought it was fuel pump and changed it out.. only paid his cost for it from dealer.

He said it had a code for the tps and maybe something else.

Does the same problem occur when in tiptronic mode. Does the vehicle accelerate when the accel pedal pressed lightly.
