Hi all, I'm new here and hoped someone would be kind enough to help me with a question. I'm negotiating with a dealer for a used 2012 V6 Limited.

It has the navigation unit. My question is; could you get navigation without the backup camera ? Everything I've found seems to indicate the camera was part of the navigation package.

When you select reverse all that happens, after a delay, is a black screen with a backup grid displayed. The dealer tells me it never had a camera fitted.

Any help much appreciated !

The rear camera is part of it. Look for the camera on the hatch above the license plate. It should be there. And if the grid comes up but he screen is blank then the camera is dead or the wiring is bad. If the camera isn't there then either it was removed or possibly the original non-navigation head unit was removed and replaced with the navigation unit but the person installing it didn't add the camera.

 

Thanks, that's what I thought. I checked and there's no camera fitted, not even a hole in the tailgate trim piece where it should be, has me a bit baffled ! I'm wondering if the wiring is under there to plug a new camera in.
