Default Radio replacement

Has anyone tried to upgrade their Sant fe radio/stereo using one from a newer model Santa fe? I recently inherited a 2009 with radio that doesn’t have Bluetooth. I know that Bluetooth was available in the 2010 Sant fe and the radio looks identical. Has anyone tried this? I could buy an aftermarket unit but that’s $300+ compared to $60 for the OEM on eBay.

Your vehicle has what is called a CAN system (Controller Area Network)Most of these systems utilize the radio as one of the nodes/modules in the network.

If that module info is absent because the radio has been removed ,the system becomes inoperable because communication is not possible and now we have problems..

Suggest you check with your Hyundai dealership service dept before opening a can of worms.
