Transmission issue
We have recently bought a 2010 Santa Fe for my teenage daughter and it has started to have a delay in shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It doesn’t happen all the time and it seems to be very sporadic when it chooses to do this. I have researched this issue a lot. I have seen everything from transmission replacement, which only solved a very small percentage, to replacement of the pcm. My question is since this vehicle is 12 yrs old, what is the fix for this? Is there a computer software upgrade that corrects shift points or what? I’m at loss.
Because we know less about this vehicle's history than you do ,
A trans fluid and filter change might reveal some info. It is as good a starting point as any.
Did you obtain any maintenance history at the time you purchased it, if so what?
How many miles on the speedometer?

We just had transmission serviced, no oblivious issues noticed. The car has 115,000 miles on it and we don’t have service history on it. I have read many reports on this issue but they were all back when the car was new and I can’t seem to find any reports of a fix for problem. I just figured since the vehicle is 12 yrs old something would have been figured out by now
There are quite a few parts to an automatic trans.
If I said 200+ that would mean at least some of them could be the cause for the problem..
Unfortunately, any of those parts could be borderline or intermittently malfunctioning and produce a similar symptom.Certain tests need to be conducted to possibly isolate the area. Sometimes the system will contain a code or two to help provide some direction.
Certain things take place at certain times and without some tests to determine exactly what is going on, difficult to come up with a definite cause.
Every time a vehicle comes in with what sounds like a similar problem, like the one we had yesterday for example, tunnel vision can get one into trouble.
Each case has to be decided on it's own merits.
